In coaching meetings, the following can be discussed, but will not necessarily be discussed on a weekly basis: individual differentiation will be provided based on teacher needs!
Coach asks a lot of questions in this process to guide the teacher.
General check in.
- Liaison between teacher and academic director.
- Effective listening.
Creating lesson plans together using UBD (backwards design); what do we want kids to learn?
- Support teachers to take more risks - try new things with coach support
- Creating projects and rubrics together
- Updating the tracker, discussing the tracker, and coming up with teaching and co-teaching strategies based on data in the tracker
Logistical organization and “to dos”
- Institutional level logistical support (conferences, grades, discipline, etc.)
- Student check in.
Reflections on projects, co-teaching lessons, etc.
Celebrations! Celebrate the teachers’ processes, risk taking, etc.
Connection between Coaches and Academic Director:

- Administrators check in on what teachers need.
- Administrators check in on what coaches need.
Monthly meetings with administrators (Ryan, Maria with Milagros; Mirtha, Amy, Kerry, Mathew with Kenia/Liz)
- Teacher objectives and results.
Bi-weekly meetings where the coaches meet and share; supporting each other and getting ideas from each other:
Coaching team uses labs to support each other and learn from each other:
- Classroom observations.
- Observing coaching meetings.
